Isn't pressure something a person is either born with or not?

Not at all.

One of the biggest misconceptions in Jiu-Jitsu is that effective pressure comes naturally to larger or stronger grapplers. In reality, pressure is a skill that can be developed through proper positioning, body mechanics, leverage, and structured practice.

Throughout this course, you'll learn not only how pressure is created, but also how to systematically improve it over time—regardless of size or athletic ability. Now, I'm not saying a 120-140 lbs. individual is going to feel like a 300 lbs. monster in three weeks. But what I am saying is a 130 lbs. Jiu Jitsu practitioner can feel like a 200 lbs. animal with the right instruction, time, and focused effort!

I've already learned pressure from my instructor. How is this course different?

Many instructors teach techniques and even where to apply it. Professor Harris teaches students how to develop it into measurable, lifelong skills.

In this course, you'll explore the mechanics behind effective pressure, discover how different body structures work together to generate force efficiently, and learn a structured approach to practicing, refining, and measuring your progress. The result isn't simply better pressure—it's a repeatable process for developing pressure as a skill.

Will this course help improve the techniques I already know?

Absolutely.

Pressure shouldn't be a separate part of your Jiu-Jitsu—it should enhance everything you do.

Better pressure can improve your guard passing, positional control, transitions, submissions, as well as your ability to maintain dominant positions. Many students find that techniques they've practiced for years become noticeably more effective once they understand how to apply pressure correctly.

I'm older and not as athletic as I used to be. Is this course still right for me?

Yes.

In fact, many older practitioners discover that pressure becomes one of their greatest assets.

Instead of relying on speed, explosiveness, or strength, you'll learn how to use positioning, leverage, structure, and efficient body mechanics to accomplish more while expending less energy. These are skills that often continue improving with experience.

Does this course only teach pressure from top positions?

No.

While you'll learn how to apply effective pressure from several dominant positions, you'll also discover how to recognize, reduce, and neutralize pressure when you're underneath an opponent.

Learning how to survive pressure is every bit as valuable as learning how to apply it.

Understanding both perspectives will make you a more complete grappler.

What makes this course different from other pressure instructionals?

Many pressure instructionals focus on techniques.

This course focuses on skill development.

In addition to learning where and how to apply pressure, you'll also discover Professor Harris' systematic approach to practice—helping you transform knowledge into measurable improvement through purposeful training rather than trial and error.

The goal isn't simply to learn pressure. The goal is to develop a skill that enhances every aspect of your Jiu-Jitsu!

What if I've watched a lot of instructional videos but still struggle to improve?

You're not alone. Watching an instructional and developing a skill are two very different things.

That's why this course goes beyond demonstrating techniques. Professor Harris also teaches a structured approach to practice designed to help you convert information into functional skill. Instead of wondering if you're improving, you'll learn how to practice with purpose and measure your progress along the way. This is because lasting improvement comes not only from what you practice—but from how you practice it.
